UTM 5, Hotspot Billing SoftwareWidely used in hotels, restaurants, train stations, airports and cafes all over the world, Hotspot is a very convenient Internet access service. With the use of the Hotspot billing software, developed by NetUP, it becomes possible to organize fully automated Hotspot billing solutions. Hotspot Billing Solutions. OverviewThe Hotspot billing software is a centralized billing server capable to manage Hotspots via RADIUS protocol as well as without it. By using Netflow technology (or both RADIUS & Netflow) it becomes possible to realize metered Internet billing (cost per traffic volume). The Hotspot server, based on the professional ISP billing software "UTM 5", consists of the Basic Module and the Hotspot Module. The software allows to produce prepaid cards (scratch cards, prepaid vouchers) right in Administration Control Center. A subscriber can register automatically at a Hotspot web portal by entering his PIN code. We offer various Hotspot billing solutions on basis of the ISP billing software capable of charging per traffic volume or per connection time. It is possible to generate prepaid cards of any face-value directly in the billing system. Use of a card number and a secret PIN code to access the Internet ensures a customer that purchased Internet traffic (or session time) will never be consumed by a unauthorized person.
In the proposed Hotspot billing solution customers access to the Internet by using prepaid cards. On connecting a wireless network at a first time and launching a Web browser, a user is being automatically redirected to an authorization page, where invited to enter a card number and a secret PIN-code. On successful authorization it becomes possible to surf the Internet. While surfing the Internet, the authorization page is periodically refreshing informing the billing system that the session is currently alive. On closing the page or disconnecting the network, the billing system blocks Internet access for the current prepaid card, guaranteeing that the account is inaccessible for a unauthorized person. This technology allows rendering fully automated Internet access. The only required thing for a customer is to buy a prepaid card (e.g., at the reception of a hotel, or in a cafe), and the billing system "UTM5" will care about the rest. Service Usage Data Sources:
